This well-worn plan of the historic town of Ross in Tasmania's midlands features the line of approach and site of the 'new bridge', through Brest's allotment and past the watch house and commissariat stores in the military barracks at the end of Bridge Street. Ross' renowned sandstone bridge is the third oldest bridge still in use in Australia, designed by colonial architect John Lee Archer and constructed by convict labour in 1836.
