I have a GPS unit, what datum do I need to input?
|
Refer to horizontal datum indicated within the map legend. Depending on the map this should be either the Australian Geodetic Datum 1966 (AGD66) or the Geocentric Datum of Australia 1994 (GDA94). Note in some GPS systems GDA94 is not an option, in this case use the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84). You will also need to set the position format to either UTM (Standard Map Grid) or Latitude/Longitude (Degrees, Minutes and Seconds). Note on some GPS units Latitude/Longitude may be shown as ddd°mm'sss" (or something similar).
